E-mail and SMS Terms of Service
From time to time we may use e-mail or SMS “text messages” to communicate with you. We will only do so if you have given us permission to do so, either verbally or by messaging us first. Text messages and e-mail are great ways to communicate certain types of information. Unfortunately, many organizations have turned it into an annoying and intrusive means to try and push their products or services, or to deceive you and flat-out rip you off. WE WILL NOT DO THAT, and WE WILL NOT BE THAT TYPE OF ORGANIZATION. If you receive an e-mail or text message from Central Plains Seed Service it is most likely related to an order you have placed with us. Occasionally we may send out group text messages that we believe will be of interest to a larger group of our customers or potential customers. Examples of these types of electronic communications include reminders about upcoming order deadlines, special pricing and product availability. We’ll only send those types of marking messages out once or twice a month. Maybe a little more than that during certain times of year, maybe a little less in others. Again, we will only include those of you who have given us permission to text and/or e-mail. The following legal jargon is required by those in charge. Feel free to read it all, but what it says is that we will only use SMS and e-mail to contact you if you’ve told us it’s OK to do that, and that if at any point you want us to stop texting/e-mailing you all you have to do is let us know by replying with “STOP” or just simply calling us and letting us know. You can also reply with “HELP” if you have questions about our texts or e-mails. Don’t type HELP if your pivot is stuck and you want us to come help you pull it out. That’s not what this is for. If you want to be added to our list, or “Opt-In” as it’s called, just send a text message to our main number – 620-617-3213 with the message “START” and we’ll include you in our messages.
When we ask you for your consent to send you electronic messages (text/e-mails) we’re supposed to do it from a script. We don’t want to read from a script when we’re talking to you, our customers and friends. But to make everyone happy, here’s the script we’ll use (or at least something very similar); “Hey, Dave! Would it be OK if we sent you a text message or an e-mail about the upcoming order deadlines for seed orders? We promise not to spam you and clog up your phone with a bunch of stupid messages, but if you ever do feel like you’re getting a bunch of junk from us just reply back to us with STOP and we’ll cut it out right away. You shouldn’t expect to see more than one or two message from us a week at most, unless we’re working on something specific with you. Or, you can just call us at 620-617-3213 and ask us take you off the list.”
The legal language looks more like this, but I think by now you get the point.

I hope this makes all the lawyers and everyone else happy, but somehow I doubt it. Just remember that we’re not here to rip you off, steal your personal info and re-sell it, or annoy the heck out of you. We’re just here to try to help you get the best seed and seed treatments for your farm. And sometimes a text message or e-mail might be the best way to help us do that.
